Begining of Spring?

O.K. I don't know what is going on but there never was an official 'Winter" here in Michigan. We had a green Christmas and then a week later it snowed, stayed for a week, and melted. This snow and melt process has happened about 5 or 6 times now and I'm wondering if spring has started yet. 1 thing I'm convinced of is this: Michigan is bi polar.

This spring I only have 1 art class (tear): 2D and so far we've played with Indie ink and I LOVE it!!!!
It's so messy and fun to play with. here are a few organic compositions and geometric+organic.

This was created by dripping ink on the page and then blowing through a straw. It's uncontrollable but you can get general directions through this method.

straw + a little water to get different shades

This is indie ink mixed with bubble solution. very messy and very fun :)

This is my favorite: blew ink w/ straw, bubbles for the circle and then tape to block of the lines while I applied the ink. unfortunately I wasn't allowed to use this mock-up as reference for my geometric and organic bc the circle counted as shape instead of line :/
Attempts at making Prof and myself happy:

This is what my professor wanted me to do, unfortunately I didn't like it so I combined this w/ the circle. I'll post the final compositions when I get them back from Prof.

End of Summer

The end of break is coming fast, i leave on september 5th for Spring arbor University and i simply can't wait!! this summer i did a few pieces but they were mostly just for fun bc i was bored so dont' judge them too much haha! ;)

This is my dream catcher that i made yesterday. I had been having bad dreams and thought 'what could stop my bad dreams?' and a dream catcher popped into my head. I know it's just a...myth? that they catch the bad dreams but i thought it would be fun to make and it was :) i didn't want it to be like those little kits they make for kids so they can make dream catchers, i wanted it to be...idk real?haha so i went up to my school and actually cut off some will branches from one of the willow trees by the soccer fields.

This second piece is an elephant, i was bored and decided to play w/ my gold paint. i wanted to finger paint but wasn't quite in the mood for getting my hands extremely..painty lol so i use cue-tips.

This 3rd piece is my 1st abstract and probly my last haha. It was totally by accident, i was outside on the driveway waiting for my project to dry (had to make a scepter for my mom's kindergarten class at church) and i just started painting randomly. I was actually going to throw it away but my mom came outside and pretty much flipped a lid when she saw it and she said she loved it and took it inside to show my dad. I have to say that it kinda freaked me out bc i was seriously thinking in my head 'mom its just a bunch of paint slopped on a piece of paper w/ no meaning beside hopping into the trash' but now i look at it and i'm glad my mom stopped me from throwing it away. i like it :)

This is a flower that i painted to see if it would look good on this material i'm using instead of canvas and it turned out good but i had to all a background on this bc it looked weird w/ just a flower on a blank piece of paper. If i end up using it for my material 'canvas' then i won't have the 'background' part w/ it.

This is a rose i painted on my driveway while waiting for that silly scepter to dray... i was thinking of the stencils we made in the printmaking class i took this past spring.

finally!!

So i finally got a new camera!!! quite literally too, got it around 1:00 :) it's green and beautiful. So my 1st day for college is actually labor day so that means i have to get busy painting my room and our house where ever i can! i decided if i painted my room, then my mom wouldn't be able to move my stuff out and take over since she probly wouldn't like what i painted. And the best part is she wouldn't be able to paint over it bc she'll just miss me too much. pretty devious i think haha!

I finally talked my parents into leting me decorate a wall in our house wich is a huge acomplishment since my dad is kinda...he's like a startrek, clive cussler, math crazy, engineer and doesn't understand me at all and doesn't really like my drawings and paintings but he saw one of my abstract paintings that i was doing out of boredom and he actually said that next time i should do it on canvas and he could sell it!!! that was the bigest paise i've ever gotten from him. i mean yeah he's said that i did a good job on some of my pieces but i don't think he's actually....idk the word, maybe meant it from the heart, he was just saying it bc i'm his daughter. so yah, i was excited! Now he's letting medecorate a wall in the downstairs but he wants to see my 'design'/ what i'm going to do 1st.....that eliminates a lot of stuff i want to do since i don't rly think my art through, i just kinda start doing something and just go from there. I'm probly going to do my bubble art on the whole wall if he'll let me. when i say bubble art, it's really just food coloring mixed with bubble solution and then i blow bubbles and the colorful bubbles leave awesome things on the paper...i just hope he'll like it bc i'm not sure what else i can do since i have to show it to him before i do it on the wall.

so yeah that's about all that's been going on besides the general hanging out w/ friends and going to the beach and sleeping in :) I hope whoever reads this has a great summer!

unwanted ties?don't grab the scissors

I'm finally almost done with high school, just have to go to the actual graduating ceremony this thursday :) I'll be going to spring arbor university to major in art education and minor in spanish. I realize that i don't totally want to cut all my ties to my high school. I've hated the whole little town where i live since i moved here(around 4th grade) and haven't participated by choice in any school things until my sophomore year; now i want to keep a tie/string (all it what you will) with this pathetic, annoying, terrible choice of colors and name, school full of many fond memories. I will update this blog once in a while with any artwork i think necessary along with photos conceived from my attempts at photography :) starting with many photos from this year and ending with my trip to grand haven last friday after i finally finished my exams.enjoy!

that's one droopy little leaf...

this little guy looks like he could stand up to any lawnmower or weed killer you send his way

i love this flower..and my whole hanging plant of them :)

my friend had this great idea to sprinkle sand on the spiderwebs to make then more visible, she's so smart :)

these i didn't have to sprinkle, the fog did it for me

this is a reporter for some newspaper, i creeped on him :)

i found the sun that fell out of the sky that foggy day :)

the beach photos were all taken the day before the kite festival so this is one of the fliers there practicing his routine
